The Cardiology Division of the Department of Pediatrics has for over 45 years provided cardiology services to the children throughout the Maritimes and on referral from Newfoundland. A full range of diagnostic and treatment facilities are housed in the Children’s Heart Centre in the IWK Hospital, for all ages from fetus to adolescence. Many outreach services are also provided, including travelling clinics in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, ECG and echocardiographic referrals and live echocardiographic transmissions. Education of students and families, cardiovascular health promotion, and research are major commitments of the Division.
