Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Department of
Pediatrics of Dalhousie University and the IWK Health
Centre serves Maritime Canada and provides comprehensive
specialized interdisciplinary health care for children
and youth. The Department also provides pediatric academic
services (teaching and research) for the Dalhousie Medical
School and the IWK Health Centre, including being the
resource for provincial Continuing Medical Education
activities. The Department has 16 specialty clinical
divisions (plus 2 clinical services), as well as a strong
basic science research program.
The Department is committed
to:
- Providing state-of-the-art tertiary care for Maritime
Canada's children and youth in greatest need in partnership
with community-based health care providers;
- Training tomorrow's doctors, nurses and allied health
professionals; and
- Advancing current medical knowledge and practices
through research.
The IWK Health Centre, a tertiary care children's and
women's hospital, is dedicated to helping children, youth
and women in the Maritimes be the healthiest in the world.
The Health Centre provides state of the art health care
and is the referral centre for Maritime Canada.
