Clinician Scientist Faculty Position in Pediatric Infectious Diseases Research Focus on Vaccine Epidemiology

Dalhousie University is inviting applications to fill a full-time faculty position in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and the Canadian Centre for Vaccinology (CCfV).

The successful candidate will be a Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist and complement a strong academic group in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Pediatrics, at Dalhousie and the IWK Health Centre. The candidate will be expected to develop a research program in vaccine epidemiology. The research program could encompass, for example, the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable diseases or the effect of implementation of vaccine programs and policies on disease epidemiology. Appropriate opportunities for further training in epidemiologic methodologies would be encouraged and supported.

Dalhousie University is located in Halifax, a cosmopolitan port city and the capital of Nova Scotia. Halifax is alive with culture and heritage and embraced by the Atlantic Ocean. The appointed candidate will be situated in the *Canadian Center for Vaccinology*at the IWK Health Centre, a clinical and laboratory research space that brings together researchers and clinician-investigators with a common interest in vaccine research from pediatric and adult infectious diseases, nursing, public health, biostatistics and social sciences. The center has three research groups: Vaccine Discovery, Vaccine Evaluation and Health Policy and Translation. The selected candidate will experience a supportive environment in which to develop a dynamic research program. The successful candidate also will be appointed to the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie.

Academic qualifications are an MD degree or equivalent, and specialty training in pediatrics and infectious diseases. Applicants must have training and/or experience in epidemiology or a related area, and have demonstrated their potential to conduct independent research and collaborate with other investigators. Experience with the design, conduct and analysis of clinical or epidemiologic studies is an asset. About 75% of the time will be protected for research and other academic activity, with the remaining time used for clinical service. The faculty member's clinical service will be as a pediatric infectious disease consultant.
